The beds were incredibly comfortable, and all three rooms felt spacious and inviting, with great en suites. We booked the whole place for a short anniversary weekend with my parents, and Ellen and Billy made us feel welcome straight away. They even provided beds for our two spaniels and couldn’t do enough for us. Breakfasts are home cooked, and the evening cheese boards and snacks were lovely. There’s locally sourced coffee and local craft beer, plus some fantastic cocktails. We’d happily recommend Cross Lanes for a weekend or midweek break, and we’ll definitely return.

We spent three nights at Cross Lane and were sorry to leave. The location made a great starting point for exploring, and coming back to a cocktail from the bar was a treat. Ellen and Billy have made the place feel so relaxed and welcoming. Their attention to the little details really shows. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, with fresh produce from the kitchen garden. We’ll be back for sure.

I felt relaxed eating here, and had no problems with my dietary needs. I’m coeliac, dairy free and meat free, and they handled my choices easily, with a clear understanding of cross contamination. Breakfast has a good range of options for everyone, and the evening meal was delicious, made with ingredients from the kitchen garden and local suppliers, and finished with pea shoots and flowers. Billy and Ellen are warm, welcoming owners, and it was lovely to hear their story and the history of the Grade 2 cottage. From the room and garden to the flowers and restaurant, the details all live up to its 4* rating. We had an amazing stay at Cross Lane House Hotel this week. You feel at home as soon as you arrive. A beautiful place, run by lovely people in a beautiful part of England. I’d recommend staying here, stopping by for dinner, or checking out one of their events if you’re nearby.

The bar was a lovely spot to unwind by the fire, even when it was busy with local guests. We came for a birthday weekend, and it felt like such a treat. The menu has plenty of local ingredients, and the cocktails deserve a mention, especially the mocha martini. The new owners are friendly, attentive and know the area well. Our room felt luxurious, with thoughtful touches like the soaps, furnishings and gowns. The bed may be the best I’ve ever slept in. We loved every part of our stay at Cross Lane House and already miss the place and the beautiful scenery. We’re looking forward to returning.

The weather wasn’t very good, but that gave us a reason to stay in and enjoy the cosy space, drinks and warm fire. We spent two nights here in February and had a great time. The room was lovely, and we enjoyed relaxing in the bar in the evenings. Ellen and Billy were always ready to help, offered suggestions for walks and places to visit, and went out of their way to make sure we were happy. The hearty breakfasts were a highlight. We loved our visit and hope to come back.
