Edgcott House

The dark skies and peace and quiet were just what we wanted while hiking through Exmoor NP. We spent three nights at Edgcott House and loved it. Exford may seem like a town to pass through, but we've travelled enough to know places like this can be the best ones. Edgcott House was a gem in the rough. Penny and Simon's love for the B&B really shows, and they were so accommodating. Penny made the most delicious homemade breakfasts we've ever had, with a different menu every morning, plus cookies and cakes that were to die for. Luckily, we're still standing! It was lovely to see that love and kindness are still alive in this special home. We felt lucky to be there, and Exford is lucky to have them as such an important part of its community. SECRET: book directly through Penny and Simon and you can cut out the middleman app, which takes large commissions from small bed and breakfasts, and get a better price. An awesome find, thank you.

The owners were lovely and handled our late arrival so well. Everything had been thought through, including the little cakes left in the room. Breakfast was cooked to order from a menu updated daily, and every bit of it was delicious. We loved our stay and wished we hadn't only been passing through. Would love to return when we're in the area again!

We liked Edgecott House enough to add a fourth night to our three night booking, and the weather helped make that decision. The house and garden are gorgeous, and the food was beautifully made by a professional caterer. There was a different cake each day, and the breakfasts were cooked perfectly with a huge choice. The Crown is an easy 8 minute slow walk for dinner, serving delicious home cooked food in a pub clearly supported by the locals. We were also told about the visiting pizza van and could eat its pizza back in the dining room. We'll definitely stay again when we're next down walking in the area. There's plenty of walking to choose from, and we love Exmoor!

The homemade coffee cake was awesome, and breakfast was great. The owner was so nice. It's a beautiful house with an interesting history, and I only wish we'd stayed longer than one night. Five stars all the way!
