We happened upon this pub in Dunster on a Friday in January, when lots of restaurants were shut, and they were still serving food at 7:30pm. The staff were warm and helpful, and we felt relaxed right away. The food was delicious and came without much of a wait. I also loved the still ciders, some of the best I've had. A real log fire and a few games made for a lovely evening. If we're in Dunster again, this will be our first stop.

A proper local pub, not a big brand, with a lively atmosphere helped along by plenty of tourists. We had tasty, generous food: I went for curry with loaded fries, while others in my group chose a burger and beef stew. The staff were really friendly and there was a good selection of beers. It's about a five minute walk from the castle, and food is served through the day. I'd definitely recommend the curry.

We stopped by several times while staying in Dunster, and this pub is the best in the village. On New Year's Eve, the landlord noticed us standing near a table and kindly found us a couple of chairs so we could sit down. That's real hospitality from someone who understands how to look after people.

The Stags Head was a first for me, despite all the time I've spent in Dunster. Once I finally went in, I wished I'd tried it years ago. It's a lovely little place, full of character, with a great choice of beers and really nice food. Highly recommend.

We called an hour ahead for a table for two, bringing our two dogs and a small baby, and they found room for us. Such a welcoming, accommodating pub. The homemade food was delicious too. Really lovely place, and I'd recommend it if you're in Dunster.
