We left and went elsewhere, where the service and attention were top notch. Here, after visiting National Trusts Montacute House, we tried to get lunch but there were no signs or staff to explain how to get a table. We chose an unreserved one, then heard two staff members gossiping about us. One came over to say we'd have to wait 10 minutes. After 20 minutes, I went to the bar for hot drinks, with no indication whether to wait there or expect them at the table. When I asked if I could order food, I was sharply told no, though a gentleman next to me did just that. Diabolical service and attitude. Avoid like the plague.

We stopped in for a quick lunch after visiting beautiful Montacute House. It was busy, but the service stayed friendly and efficient. The food was freshly made and tasty. My husband really enjoyed his fish finger sandwich, a homemade fillet in batter rather than shop-bought fish fingers. Prices seemed reasonable for such a touristy area. We'd happily return and recommend it. Thank you.

The shower was hot with good pressure, and the linen was spotless and good quality. But the room was very basic, with no coat hangers or drawers, so I had to live out of my suitcase. The toilet seat was broken and didn't fit, the bed was very soft, and the bathroom wasn't very clean. I'm afraid I wouldn't return.

The triple fried chips are the best on the planet. Really good service, and they're dog friendly too.
