The place was lovely and spotless, and the hosts had put out some generous little touches for our arrival. You’ll need a car, and some of the nearby ground may be difficult for older guests or people with disabilities. Although everything is on one level, there are a couple of small steps at the entrance, so getting in with a wheelchair could be awkward, though not impossible. I’d recommend staying here.

Rhayader and the surrounding area made a lovely base, with amenities easy to reach. The apartment itself was bright, clean, fully equipped, and everything was in excellent condition. I really enjoyed my visit and would happily come back again. Highly recommended.

The bathroom looked a little mouldy, but I agreed to the £40 price for one night. When I tried to leave my room to get the WiFi code, the damaged lock wouldn’t let me out. Reception didn’t answer, and neither did the emergency mobile number. After several attempts I called 999. The police also got no answer when they called the hotel and had to come rescue me. They couldn’t open the door either, so the lock eventually had to be removed. Management never apologized or offered a discount for the inconvenience. It felt like staying at Fawlty Towers!

Jane and Duncan, the new owners, were lovely. The hotel felt clean, pleasant, and welcoming, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We’ll definitely return.
