We had a really enjoyable dinner here. The food was cooked just right and presented nicely, and the service was helpful and good. The traditional interior feels warm and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. It was such a contrast with the other local Hotel. We’ll definitely come back when we’re in the area.

We didn’t stay overnight, but the food is very good and locally sourced. The eight of us were taken to the “library” for aperitifs, with a choice of gins, whiskies and locally brewed beers. It had a good atmosphere. Birdwatchers and twitchers should feel right at home, and the service won’t disappoint.

Heatherlea birdwatching holidays are based here and they’re excellent, with brilliant guides who know where to take you for the best birds. The hotel itself is adequate, since you’re mainly there to sleep and eat. The meals are very good, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

We had a drink in the quiet, homely lounge before dinner. The restaurant food was excellent and the service friendly. Definitely try the cheese souffle!
