We booked two nights for the bank holiday weekend and contacted the hosts to ask about parking and an early check in. I was told they were away, that parking was next to the property, and that the earliest check in would be 5pm, even though the advertised time was 4pm. Once we were in Newbiggin, we had lunch and tried to confirm the check in time with the host, but got no reply to a message or phone call. With nowhere else available and no contact, we decided to head home rather than risk being left without somewhere to stay late in the day. We told the host we’d left and asked for a refund. We soon got a reply, and Booking.com later arranged the refund. We didn’t stay, so I can’t comment on the property itself.

The house is kept to a high standard and sits on the main street, just two minutes from the beach. Kathryn & Gary are very pleasant hosts and were most helpful.

The owners were lovely, and we had a really nice stay for two nights. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a clean, roomy private bathroom, fresh towels and bathrobes. Breakfast was lovely, with quality ingredients and lots of choice. We went for the full English. Thanks for the great hospitality, Sarah & Jerry. I’d definitely stay again.

Kathryn and Gary were fantastic hosts and made us feel welcome during our stay last weekend. The room and bathroom were lovely, with towels and robes, and the breakfast was superb. All in all, a wonderful stay. I’d highly recommend staying here.
