The Club Lounge was a lovely part of our stay. Sally was so attentive, remembered everyone by name, and went out of her way to help. We both enjoyed the vegetable curry and salad, so please pass our thanks to her and the chef. She’s been here 10 years, and her June anniversary deserves a celebration. As Diamond members, we were very impressed. Hannah at Reception also gave us the warmest Diamond Welcome we’ve ever had. She made us feel as if the red carpet had been rolled out and put my parking worries to rest. A few practical notes about parking: continue past the hotel, turn left at the lights, then go to the 10th floor. Enter your number plate at Reception to get the discount. Don’t pay at the machine. The Front desk team can explain it, and take care on the corners. The 10-minute limit at the lobby drive area should be increased to 20 minutes. The pool looked busy, so hopefully we’ll try it tomorrow when it’s quieter. Still five stars, especially compared with Marriott, which has closed all its leisure clubs and reduced staff. Thank you.

We only had one night and were keen to try the spa, but it was packed with children. There was no system for booking a time, so it felt like a free-for-all and we waited more than an hour. A sign-up rota with clear time slots would make it much easier to manage. Breakfast itself was fantastic, though tables weren’t being cleared as guests left, leaving a big queue for seating. The room was comfortable, but its air-con vent made some very strange noises at certain times overnight. The hotel and staff were great, and everything was clean with modern, trendy decor. It’s just a couple of minutes from the station. A nice stay, and a few simple changes could make it close to perfect.

I was here for a conference and had a great experience. The staff were welcoming and the facilities were excellent, while my room was spotless and comfortable. Breakfast had so much choice that there was something for everyone. The train station is only about a 5-7 minute walk away. I’d definitely recommend it.

The hotel is gorgeous, and we’ve stayed here a couple of times. It’s just around the corner from the train station, about an eight-minute walk with a suitcase. The rooms we usually book include lounge access, and the woman working there was always happy to help. I’m gluten free, and Sally took the trouble to find lovely gluten-free treats for me on every visit. Eating out with allergies can be worrying, so I really appreciated how thoughtful she was. While RR was working during the day, I had fun exploring the hotel and Newcastle. It’s a stunning city, and there’s always something new to see, however often you visit. Even when he lived in Washington, we still came to Newcastle for nights away together. If you’re unsure about visiting, do go. It can be very romantic. The rooms were beautiful again, and the restaurant and bar food were brilliant. Everyone on staff was lovely and helpful. I can’t complain and hope to visit again soon.
