The river walk was lovely and the views were amazing. The kids loved it, and we enjoyed a nice meal and a great breakfast. Eileen and chris were so kind and couldn't do enough for us. It was our first stay, but definitely won't be our last. Arriving at this beautiful, peaceful country hotel felt relaxing from the start. Thanks, Eileen and chris, for everything. Hope to see you soon x.

We stayed two nights for our 30th wedding anniversary and were treated like special guests. The staff were attentive and the service was top quality. Our room was beautiful, with a stunning old style bathroom that was simple to use. The river walk around the grounds was lovely, and seeing a red squirrel felt magical. The views were amazing too. Food was simple, well cooked, and beautifully presented, with portions served separately so you could choose how much to take and avoid waste. The homemade desserts are fabulous and well worth trying. It felt like stepping back in time, with a touch of Downtown Abbey right on the doorstep. If you want a quiet retreat with professional table service, this is the place. We'll definitely return.

The people running the hotel were amazing and couldn't do enough for us. We had a great two night stay, with very comfortable rooms and lovely breakfast and dinner. The hotel has a lovely feel and a great location. Looking forward to visiting again. Thanks, guys.

We spent the weekend here, away from the town crowds but near enough to walk in or drive over quickly. The staff were wonderful, the food was good, and there’s a nice trail down to the river.

The location is stunning, and the dining room has beautiful views. Sadly, lunch with my family went downhill after that. The room felt awkwardly quiet. A few other tables were occupied, but everyone spoke softly and no music came on until we were nearly finished. A staff member kept moving around our table to set up for diners who, we overheard, weren't due for quite a while. It was really off putting while we were trying to eat. We ordered chicken, beef, and salmon roasts. The presentation was poor: one chicken breast, one salmon fillet, and a couple of beef slices, with just one bowl of roast and boiled potatoes and one bowl of greens to share. Honestly, it looked like care home food. Everything tasted bland and underseasoned, and the vegetables were boiled to within an inch of their life. I honestly doubt there's a qualified chef in the kitchen. Dessert was similarly mediocre, and our orders had mistakes. When a lady came to take payment, she didn't ask whether we'd enjoyed the meal, which says a lot. It's such a shame given the fabulous setting. With some investment and a decent chef, this place could do so much business.
