Mill House Townhouse

For our family Christmas, Mill House simply didn’t work for our group. There was nowhere for all 10 of us to sit and eat together, and no shared lounge where we could relax. With young children and an 84-year-old blue-badge holder in our party, the steep stairs were also a concern. The kitchen and dining room are down a narrow staircase with low headroom and no handrail, which could be a safety hazard. The house is a narrow Victorian mid-terrace converted into six bedrooms, two small shower rooms and a dining room with space for six. The bedrooms themselves are attractive, a good size, and the location is very central, so it might suit people looking for a base for the races. When we arrived, we found mouldy food in the kitchen, out-of-date milk in the fridge, a cracked toilet seat, a dishwasher that wasn’t working, cigarette butts at the doorstep, and stains and burn marks on the carpets. We photographed these problems and sent them to Airbnb, which moved us to another property that same day.
