Castle Lodge Guest House

The music posters covering the breakfast room wall are an awesome collection, and the breakfasts are a good range of decent quality. The hostess was friendly and knew the area well. It’s a long-running guest house with good quality rooms, ensuite bathrooms, comfortable beds and good bedding. The rooms let in quite a bit of morning light even with the curtains drawn, and the walls are fairly thin, though that’s standard for a B&B. Can’t complain.

The breakfast was well cooked to order, and the friendly hostess made us feel at home. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well appointed. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the centre of Newport. A fantastic place, and I’d definitely stay again.

We’ll return soon, I hope. Breakfast in the 'festival' dinning room was great, and the guest house is well placed for getting around. Newport is a 20-minute stroll, and the Castle is just 10 minutes up the road. The rooms are nice, the beds comfortable, service is excellent, and it’s a real bargain. It’s quiet, with off-road parking. There aren’t views to speak of, and the coast is miles away, but this is a perfect base for all locations.

The only reason I wouldn’t give it five stars is that the wifi didn’t work at all in our room. I’d still absolutely stay again. The hotel was the cleanest I’ve ever been in, with a lovely decorated room and piping hot breakfast. The lovely lady made us feel very welcome.
