Barrowfield Hotel

The entertainment was the best part, we enjoyed it every evening. The food was lovely, with a good selection and plenty to eat, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We’ve just got back from a Monday to Friday stay with my friend. The rooms were okay, though they need painting and the windows need fixing. With a bit of a spruce-up, we’d go again without a problem.

The place is up for sale, and in my opinion some staff have an air of not caring. The rooms are tidy, though they do need a refurb. Most of the staff were cheerful, and the food was okay. I do love that half-thinly sliced half piece of black pudding.

The food was poor and cold, and the tea was undrinkable. We were there for five days on a Shearings holiday, but it seemed to me that Daish holidaymakers got better treatment. The hotel manager was a jobsworth who didn’t want to take responsibility, and the dining room floor was never cleaned. Our coach driver, though, was excellent. I have mobility issues, and because the lift was out of order with no sign of being fixed, we had to climb two flights of stairs to our room. I would never return while that manager is there.

We had a fabulous stay, and the staff were excellent. The one real problem was how cramped the toilet was in our room, it was difficult to use. I think the hotel was full, and with limited seating in the hall we had to sit in the foyer, which was comfortable. But there wasn’t a speaker system there, so we couldn’t hear the bingo or quiz.
