The owner’s response to my Booking.com review accused me of lying about how long we were in the room and frightening my own children. That isn’t true: my kids were scared of her behaviour, not of me. She says she’s been in the business for years, but I can’t understand how the place has such high ratings. Maybe Room 7 isn’t usually rented out. Booking.com also didn’t upload the photos I sent, which showed the conditions we found. Room 7 was in an appalling state. It smelled of mould, visible on the walls and in several spots. There was dirt behind the beds, carpet stains, and bugs in and behind the bed. When we arrived, the owner appeared visibly drunk, which was unsettling and unprofessional, especially with children. Later, she and her husband came to our room staggering drunk, and my kids were frightened. Instead of accusing guests of lying, the owner should take responsibility and clean and maintain the place properly. No one should have to go through what we did. Avoid Room 7.

The breakfast was delicious, with cereal and croissants available too, and there’s a car park opposite with safe crossings. This is a real gem of a B&B, with friendly staff, spotless, spacious en-suite rooms, and very close to all amenities. We’ll definitely stay again when we get the chance. The location is very good, the room was comfortable, and breakfast was a real treat. Ash and Cindy are great hosts, always willing to help. No problems at all, recommended.

We had a wonderful time, and the breakfast was marvellous. Cindy and her husband were such welcoming hosts, treating us all with kindness. Nothing was too much trouble, and Cindy was already helping before the holiday by answering my questions over the phone. Couldn’t have asked for a friendlier place or hosts.

We had a brilliant break. The place is pet friendly, with big spacious rooms and parking, and it’s only a five-minute walk to town and the nearest beach. Our room had a pool table, which was perfect for our two teenage boys. Breakfast had a great choice, and the owners would even go out to get something if the menu didn’t have what you wanted. We arrived four hours early and only wanted to park so we could wander into town, but the room was already ready. The owners let us check in early with no fuss. You can choose your breakfast time, and when we left early on the last day, they gave us things to take along since we’d miss it. Nothing was too much trouble. Such lovely, accommodating owners.
