OYO Minerva Guesthouse

The breakfast was generous, with plenty of variety, and the owner was pleasant and communicated really well. We were surprised at breakfast by how many other guests there were, since the rooms had been so quiet we thought we were alone. We could leave our bags for a few hours after checkout while we looked around town. We came by train, and it was only a very short walk from Newquay railway station. There was also a welcoming looking bar and pool table, though we didn't use either. You can tell no corners have been cut. Our stay at this guest house in the centre of Newquay was lovely, and we'll definitely be back. The bed was very comfortable, and room 15 was nicely appointed, with six accessible power points, nice bedding, good lighting, a decent sized smart TV and a view to die for. The shower was roomy and had great water pressure. They even provide a telescope. I booked through hotels.com and was a little nervous because in my experience its descriptions aren't always accurate, but they got this one spot on. A great owner, and I highly recommend it.

The room was mint, and the bar had a good pool table. Margaret was a real character and looked after us with a great price for the night. We were there during a trail riding trip and had off-road parking. Breakfast was superb, with a full English, fruit, cereal and plenty of filter coffee refills. Margaret, your safety hug worked too, we both finished the ride safe and sound 😀. Support local businesses, highly recommend.

We loved how personal and intimate the stay felt, and it was lovely to find the B&B full even out of season. Newquay had such good energy in late February. Our balcony room looked out over the ocean and was simply perfect. The hosts were warm and friendly, everything was really clean, and the location was spot on. Breakfast was generous and home-cooked, with a lovely server who did everything she could for us. We'd give the place 10 stars if we could. We'll be back with the whole family next time!

We ended up having the best evening in the bar, playing pool and chatting with Margaret and Owen after a last-minute trip from Devon with our 14-year-old son. They made us feel so welcome. The guest house felt like a home away from home, and the room was spotless. Breakfast was perfect and the location couldn't have been better. One of the best stays we've had, and we'll definitely come back. Thanks, Margaret and Owen, for making our getaway even better. x
