Town Lodge

Our evenings were quiet, and everything in the room worked as it should. There was plenty of space, the beds were comfortable, and the hotel was clean and cosy. The staff were friendly too. A good option for either work or a break.

The window didn’t shut completely, though it hardly got in the way of an otherwise lovely stay. We’d arrived a little unsure, but left delighted: the room was clean, cosy, and had a homely feel, and the staff welcomed us like old friends.

The staff came across as disorganized and uninterested, as if they were more concerned with finishing their shifts than helping guests. There was no real welcome or willingness to assist. The location may be acceptable, but the rest of the stay was poor, especially for such a high price. My room at Town Lodge was small and neglected, with sparse, poor furnishings. Dust was everywhere, the bed linen looked questionable, and the bathroom had a persistent bad smell. The mattress was uncomfortable, and noise came through easily from the hallway and neighboring rooms. I arrived with low expectations, but things were worse than I’d anticipated. I’d avoid it. For the same money, you might find somewhere much better, or at least somewhere that makes you feel remotely welcome.

The staff were friendly from the moment we arrived and throughout our visit, which was out of season. Our room was clean and tidy, and the hotel is right by the town centre. I’d go back.
