The New Year’s Eve part of the package was a real letdown. The band was awful, there was no atmosphere, and the laser show disappointed too. We’d have been better off going to bed early. The other entertainment finished at 9 p.m., just as we were finishing dinner, so I think it needs a rethink. We had a large group with children and grandparents, and the staff did a great job of making the stay family-friendly. They were friendly and helpful, the food was wonderful, the free childcare was great for the kids, and the location and views are unbeatable. Our full sea-view rooms were cosy and nicely designed, though some were on the small side and could use more storage. For this price, I would have expected evening turn-down service. We’d definitely visit again in spring or summer, but the New Year’s package needs to learn from this and improve next year.

We’ve lived in Cornwall for 15 years and heard plenty about this truly beautiful hotel, but staying there was what finally showed us how amazing it is. It’s quite pricey, the joys of Cornwall, but worth a night’s stay and a bite to eat as a treat.

Watergate bay has outstanding views, and we had a lovely experience. The food was excellent, with large portions that were almost too much in some ways, but great. Staff were polite and cheerful and made us feel welcome and special. The hotel is very exposed to the beach, so the large areas of glazing get windblown salt spray. Keeping that clean must be a challenge, though it’s clear the place is cleaned to a high standard throughout. We hope we can come back some day.

Just fantastic! A group of us did the swim and breakfast. The pool was beautiful, and there’s a hot tub looking out over the beach plus a sauna. Then came the best breakfast we’ve ever had in a hotel. Fabulous staff, excellent food and a great location. Can’t wait to return and stay over next time!

The staff are what made this such a lovely place to spend a few relaxed hours. Everyone was wonderful, and the setting is beautiful, with a warm, comfortable feel. We only popped in for coffee but stayed for a light lunch too. The food and drinks were really good. Thank you!
