The garden is lovely after its renovation, and doing yoga there in the dappled sun was exquisite. Breakfast was delicious, especially the veggie haggis, and the location makes a great base for day trips around the area. Nick and Andrea are so attentive that if you linger after breakfast, you may find yourself getting property market advice! ;) I highly recommend staying here.

Parking was easy, which isn't always a given, and there’s a comfy lounge and bar for relaxing. I was warmly welcomed by Nic and Andrea, who were helpful throughout and great to chat with. The food was excellent, with plenty of choice. The owners have lovingly refurbished this beautiful 1880 house to a high standard, and it sits in a quiet area. I'd happily recommend Rowallan House.

We’re definitely hoping to come back and use Newton Stuart as a base for exploring. The evening meals we had were excellent, as was breakfast, and our large room looked out over the area and the attractive garden. The guest house is smart, clean and stylish after its refurbishment. The hosts clearly enjoy welcoming guests and are happy to help with anything. My wife and I both felt its elegant yet homely atmosphere made it the best guest house we’ve stayed in.

The lounge is a lovely spot to unwind after a day out, with comfortable sofas, a log fire and a fine selection of gins. Nick and Andrea make you feel like a friend, and they’ve thought of everything to keep guests comfortable. The food is amazing, easily up to restaurant standard. We also loved the tastefully furnished, spotless rooms and the luxuriously comfortable beds. From the friendly welcome onward, everything was wonderful. I can’t wait to visit the Rowallan again.

The quiet house and neighbourhood meant we slept really well and woke up ready for that breakfast. As vegetarians, we were amazed by the cooked options, including vegan sausages, bacon and even haggis. Nic and Andrea have put so much care into this beautiful 19th century building, from its tasteful decor and immaculate garden to the spacious, comfortable rooms and warm, genuine welcome. Little touches like local shortbread in a jar with a handwritten label and filtered water in a refillable glass bottle show how much has been thought through. We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses, but this is our favourite. We’ll be back!
