We were given a complimentary upgrade to the cottage behind Cuffern Manor for our two-night stay, which was a lovely surprise. The manor itself is remarkable, dating to around 1770, just five years before the American Revolutionary War. Its library and gardens are wonderful, and Julian gave us a fascinating tour through the house’s history. Julian and Jayne clearly care deeply about the place, and they were great hosts.

The room was a decent size with a comfortable bed, a lovely garden outlook and was mostly clean, though we spotted mould in the shower. There was no tea or coffee in the room, but we could get some in the nearby lounge. The garden itself was beautiful. For what we paid, our stay at Cuffern Manor was disappointing. Julian and Jane felt very controlling, and we felt watched rather than able to relax. There were notes around the property telling guests what to do and not do, which came across as childish and unprofessional. Julian also seemed nosey, as if we were there to entertain the hosts. Breakfast was meagre: one piece of toast, and although more could be requested, it seemed to personally pain the host to serve it. When we raised an issue, there was no apology, just an excuse, which also felt unprofessional.
The breakfasts Julian and Jayne made each morning were delicious, and our hosts were delightful. We also enjoyed touring their walled garden and chatting about our own gardens. We had a lovely stay at Cuffern Manor and would love to come back someday.
We spent two nights here over half term with friends and really didn't want to leave. Pembrokeshire's best spots are close by, and the place was easy to find. Julian was lovely and happy to share advice and information about the area. Breakfast was included, with delicious food all provided locally. The stay went beyond what we expected, especially for the price. We'll definitely be back!
I came without a car, while my daughter and son-in-law were staying in a nearby trailer tent. Julian kindly picked me up once and brought me back to the Manor house because the walk was too far. It's down a secluded road, which also made the place so peaceful and quiet, just right for unwinding after a busy day. The location, gardens and breakfast were lovely, and Julian was extremely helpful.
