The Law

We often come to North Berwick from Edinburgh, but this was our first meal at the law. It’s dog friendly, and the staff were fab, really friendly. We nearly didn’t try it because of the rating, and I’m not sure why it’s only 3.6/5. We found the food fresh and delicious, and the staff were wonderful. We ordered two steak pies. They were on the small side, but we prefer quality over quantity and didn’t leave hungry. Hope to visit again soon.

We visit North Berwick often and tried The Law for lunch after staff at the Johnny Walker Experience recommended it. First impressions were good: a lovely interior and a friendly welcome. Then the food arrived. I ordered large fish and chips, my wife had the small. Her fish was about the size of a chicken goujon, and when she bit into it, there was little or no fish under the batter. The waitress was lovely and very apologetic, and went to get another. That plate had two pieces, but one had only a bit of fish and the other was again just batter. The replacement chips were nice, though very dark brown and nearly burnt. I rarely leave reviews, especially negative ones, but this spoiled what should have been a good experience.

The staff at The Law were what made our stay so good. Every one of them was lovely, and Donna especially was friendly and helpful. The pub downstairs is lovely, and our room was clean, a nice size, with a very comfy bed. The Irn Bru and caramel log were a great little touch ❤️ We’ll definitely be back.

The Law is a real gem in North Berwick. From the warm welcome to the relaxed feel, we felt at home right away. The food was full of flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with skill and care. Everything we tried was cooked perfectly, and it all seemed homemade. The staff were welcoming and attentive, and the place was run so professionally that dining there was a pleasure. It works for a casual meal or a special occasion. Highly recommended, we’ll be back!
