The seaside view was a real highlight, especially over a quiet morning cup of tea. I slept very comfortably, and having the pool and spa available made the stay more relaxing. The staff were attentive and kept things running smoothly. There were some problems with the first room, though: cracked tiles, a hole in the wall and a very loud ventilator. I wouldn't expect that in a five-star hotel. They moved us promptly, but the maintenance issues should be dealt with. The bar service didn't feel professional, and I would've liked more choice at breakfast, particularly vegetables and healthier options.

The gym, pool and spa made for a really relaxing couple's break, and we'd definitely recommend the hotel to couples looking for some quiet time. The beds were huge and very comfortable, the view was amazing, and breakfast was lovely both mornings. Give the Scottish pancakes a try! We spent two nights at the Marine Hotel before our baby arrives. At check-in we were surprised with an upgrade, then Jay kindly arranged a special treat in our room. Such a thoughtful gesture, thank you.

The walks along the links and beach were lovely, whether we went in the morning or at sunset. The spa and pools were clean, and the massage was wonderful, a great way to switch off. Breakfast had the huge range I like. Afternoon tea was a bit pricey, but there was plenty of choice on the plates, and the tea list was extensive and quirky. Our room was large, well equipped and very clean, and it was beautifully serviced each morning. The early 20th-century style came with all the modern extras you'd expect in a hotel room, though the wallpaper was an acquired taste. Check-in was quick and easy, and our luggage was taken up for us. We ate in both the restaurant and the Bass Rock Bar. Service was very good, we didn't wait long for our orders, and the food was good. Still, neither meal felt like good value to me. The place was special and I'd recommend it. One thing, if a service charge is already on the bill, there's no real need to ask whether we want to leave a gratuity for food or drinks.

A beautiful hotel with lovely rooms and a fabulous breakfast. The cocktails were great too. Everyone was friendly and helpful, especially Dawn at reception. A gem 💎.
