Travelodge Northampton Central

The central town location is the only decent thing about this hotel, with everything close by. It might suit someone who just wants somewhere cheap and doesn’t care much about luxury, but we wouldn’t stay again. The website says there’s parking, but there isn’t. We had to use a multi-storey about ten minutes away and walk back. They advertise a 24-hour reception, yet there was nobody there when we arrived. After waiting 23 minutes, I called the emergency number to get someone to come down. The room was freezing because the bedroom air-con heater didn’t work. The carpet was damp, and the toilet door was so close that it hit the seat and wouldn’t shut. When I tried opening the window, the whole frame came off in my hand. It was damp and covered in mould. There were no bedside tables, and the only plug socket was at the table, so I couldn’t charge my phone by the bed.

The stated check-out time was 12:00. I went out at 9:00 on my last day and came back at 11:00, before checking out, but found the cleaning woman in my room.

The location and low price were the only good things about this absolutely disgusting hotel. The floors were very damp and stained, and the dirty walls had marks and holes. There was staining on the bed frame, and the window frame fell off. The listing said parking was available, but there isn’t any.

Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else. The lift wasn’t working, and the water swung between burning hot and freezing cold. The car park is no longer for customers. I asked for the room to be cleaned; they made the bed but left all the rubbish behind.
