Broadgate Park - Campus Accommodation

Broadgate Park felt like a jail to me, and I found myself cursing myself for living there. People nearby kept banging doors and the walls were thin as paper. Everything needs repair and nothing works properly. Now they've increased prices, which I don't think is a good way to treat students. I've sometimes thought jail cells were much better.

I've lived here for 5yrs, and the price is my only complaint. The students' space has been refurbished with games and a pool table, which is great. There are different room options, from shared rooms to en suite studios with your own kitchen, though it can be a bit pricey depending on the type. Staff are always friendly and helpful, especially at reception, which is open 24/7. They sort out problems as soon as they can.

The fire alarms went off constantly, sometimes several times a week, and were very loud and stressful. I also felt extremely unsafe as a young woman when staff came into my room without permission, even while I was asleep. I spent a year at Broadgate Park and wouldn't recommend it. The heating caused problems from the first day: radiators switched off every few hours and I got sick many times, so I had to buy a heater even though bills were included. Poor bathroom ventilation left things damp, with silverfish everywhere. Staff could be rude and aggressive. Once, someone yelled at me as if I were a criminal just because I was visiting a friend's room. When I moved out, they refused to help at all. It isn't worth the money. Nottingham has much better and safer student accommodation.

There's plenty of facilities for students, and I'd highly recommend this accommodation to anyone coming to Nottingham. One tip: don't pick Cloister house. It's part of Broadgate Park but a long way from BGP, where most of the events take place.
