Amazing, friendly staff. Amy and Isabella are a credit to the hotel. I’ll be back again.

You’d be better off staying somewhere else. Our room had a full-size fridge/freezer, but no lamp or chair, and the mattresses were very uncomfortable. The place looked shabby and seemed badly in need of maintenance. The shower looked so grubby that we chose not to use it. The car park isn’t part of the hotel, so you have to pay. I gave it one star because there was no option to give none.

The managers were really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us, especially for what we paid. We stayed two nights and slept really well both nights. It’s in a great location, with lots of fast food places and convenience stores close by. We booked before reading any reviews, then got nervous once we checked them. At the hotel, a really polite couple greeted us at reception, and we found out it had recently come under new management. The room was a pleasant surprise: clean sheets, a comfy bed, a fresh paint smell, and clean showers, towels, and toilet. Everything was as it should be, and I felt completely comfortable staying there. Give it a chance before avoiding it because of old reviews!

If you’re after a low-budget hotel, this is convenient and worth roughly £20 per room. The staff are helpful, and the location works well: buses to and from the city centre stop outside, so don’t be put off by the extra distance. I liked being able to open the window for a breeze, though some rooms may get too hot because the whole building has one heating system, and others complained about the heat. Do check the bed sheets: mine were dirty, but when I asked, staff changed them and gave me a different, clean room. Also, the booking sites don’t make the 20:00 check-in cutoff clear, so be aware. I do think the staff should be more professional, show more sympathy and interest in guests, and take better care of the hotel. They came across as low-class, couldn’t-be-bothered types. I’d suggest the owner impose a simple uniform with a tie. It’s a business, not a charity handout! I like this hotel and think it should stay low budget. My cousin came from far away and had been touring the UK to see family. He was surprised by how cheap and convenient it was, and liked it very much. After all, 3/5!
