Elton Barn Fishery & Retreat

The lake was beautiful and full of fish, and the staff were friendly and really helpful. My husband and I spent four nights in one of the shepherds huts. It was cosy, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed. We’d love to come back. Thanks for having us.

The best part might be Sammy, the friendly site cat from the owners’ cat rescue. He was always after a fuss. We camped in our own tent for a night, and the ground was flat and good for pitching. The toilets and showers were clean, with toilet roll topped up, and there was hot water for washing pots as well as drinking water. Fishing spots around the lake were roomy, with a lovely little bridge to sit on. The owners were welcoming and happy to help. Checkout is 24 hours later, so there’s no need to rush packing in the morning. We’ll be back to try the huts.

There’s no EHU, as the site page says. The place is peaceful and well kept, with clean facilities and one loo and shower each for men and women, right by a small fishing lake. We stayed four nights. There are also two glamping pods with a fire pit, indoor and outdoor BBQs, a small fridge and a microwave. We’d recommend it and come back. Thank you.

The lake is well looked after and full of life. We lost count of the fish we caught, and I’d never fished before, but now I’m hooked 😉. My partner and I had a two-day break in a shepherd’s hut. It was clean, well equipped, and laid out beautifully. The facilities were immaculate, and Tanya was lovely and welcoming. Thanks for the hospitality. We’ll definitely be back.
