I spent two years living here, and there were real pros and cons. I liked the building and flat, the insulation was good, communal spaces were generally clean, and I rarely had trouble with night noise. Most staff and security were friendly and helpful, especially Gayle and Karl, who were always polite and approachable. It's also handy for the city centre and train station. The social side felt lonely. Residents didn't really speak to one another, hardly anyone used the Facebook group, and for my whole tenancy I didn't know what most of my neighbours looked like. Parcel handling was worrying too: large or heavy deliveries were sometimes left unattended at reception, and it seemed odd to have just one staff member in the building at weekends when there are 365 apartments. The all-electric building made heating very expensive. The meter was behind a locked cupboard, and you had to borrow the key at reception, which wasn't always staffed. The windows were supposed to be cleaned outside every six months, but they weren't cleaned at all during my two years there. Building work between Brook Street and Bath Street had been going on since December 2022 and was still unfinished in August 2024. It often got noisy enough that I couldn't open my window. Crossing the road also felt dangerous: drivers often turned left from Beck Street onto Huntingdon Street when they shouldn't, and I was nearly run over several times. I also saw several people run red lights. Driving and parking around there are a mess, with lots of one-way streets and no stopping or parking on Huntingdon Street. Brook Street was often unavailable too because of the work.

The apartment was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. Check-in and check-out were straightforward, and parking in the same building was reasonably priced. We stayed at Marco Island IV for a gig at the nearby Motorpoint Arena, and the town centre was an easy short walk away. There was some street-level noise, so very light sleepers might want earplugs, though it didn't bother us. We'll consider No41 Serviced Apartments again next time we're in Nottingham.

It felt like home.

Marco Island is only a three-minute walk from INTU Victoria Centre, the biggest shopping mall, and about ten minutes from the market square and The Hockley area with its restaurants and pubs. The location on Huntington Street is busy with shops, petrol stations, a Lidl supermarket and bus stops nearby. The large Motorpoint Arena has an ice rink and hosts concerts and major events, and the Panthers play there, described as the country's best hockey team. The building is one of Nottingham's most distinctive apartment blocks. Its height, rounded shape, size and blue windows make it look like a giant cruise ship full of cabins, even though it's not going anywhere. Apartments or rooms are available to rent from £112 a week, which doesn't seem exorbitant given the location.

There's a bishop inside it 👍
