Premier Inn Nottingham Castle Marina

There are some good points: the location is handy, the beds are comfortable and there’s plenty of parking. We didn’t hear noise from the works, though we were there at the weekend. The man I assume is the restaurant manager went out of his way to help. Our room had almost been refurbished, but the door was hard to open and close. The pub across the road has cheap drinks, and its food is hit and miss, though better than what they serve here. On the downside, the staff didn’t seem very helpful or keen to be there. We were told the restaurant would close and staff were being made redundant. One night, we heard who I assume was the restaurant manager telling staff to work and serve customers several times in front of us. Our free promotional breakfast wasn’t great and didn’t seem worth its normal price. We could hear a lot of noise from the rooms above and below, and the hallways and stairs were freezing. The towels had holes, and there was only one bath towel for the two of us for two nights, though we got more when we asked. The bar, which is closing, only opened at 5pm. There’s a Sainsbury’s and a pub across the road, but we like to have a drink when we arrive at the hotel. There are no vending machines, so bring your own drinks for the night or early morning, as the bar won’t be open for soft drinks either. The bathroom fan was very noisy, as was the heating.
