I booked through booking.com for a friend, but when he arrived, the hotel refused to let him stay because he wasn’t the person who made the booking. I spoke to the manager, confirmed my card details and name, and was still refused. I suggested a way for my friend to stay and said I’d contact booking.com so this wouldn’t happen again. The manager said their in-house policy doesn’t allow third-party bookings, though booking.com doesn’t mention that when you book through them. He refused a refund, so my friend had to find another hotel. It’s been 12 days since 18th november and there’s still no refund. Booking.com customer services submitted the request three times but never emailed me with an outcome. They told me the refund was refused. I wouldn’t book here. The manager was rude on the phone and shouted at both me and my friend.

The location was the best part: a short walk from the car park, castle, and main centre, and checkout was easy. The room itself was okay, but the bedding and towels were clearly old and completely mismatched. Our clean bathroom was down the hall, and the shower was in poor condition. It wouldn’t stay attached to the wall, so you had to hold it while washing, and the hose was too short to wash your hair without sitting down. The thin walls also meant a lot of noise from people returning after nights out on the weekend. When we arrived, nobody was at the hotel. We hadn’t seen the booking.com messages asking us to give a specific arrival time, so we hadn’t provided one. That was our mistake, but the man on the phone was very rude and shouted at us even after we apologized. We waited 45 minutes for someone to come check us in, and an extra service charge was added. When we return to Nottingham, we’d rather pay more for somewhere that feels more legitimate.

It was a very basic place, though near town and the bus station. The room was very clean, but I didn’t think it was worth £200 for three nights plus £40 towards possible breakages. The TV kept cutting out and only BBC 1 worked. Heating was on briefly in the afternoon, so the room was very cold in the mornings and evenings. We left before the full three days because of the cold, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Easy check-in, and the host was friendly and polite. It’s a short walk to the main city center. The building is old, so you can hear people moving on the stairs, but that didn’t bother me during my stay. My room was tidy and clean, and the bed was really soft and comfortable. A nice little hotel for a good price :)

I never got into the place, and now I'm trying to get my money back. It was my wedding night, and I had to leave the party to deal with check-in and pay the £50 damage deposit. The booking cost 85, and the email said I needed to arrive between 3 pm and 9 pm. I got there at 8, but nobody was around, just a sign with a contact number. On the phone they said I'd broken some made-up rule and would have to wait 45 minutes for someone to let me in. They were rude when I tried to get my keys so I could enjoy the night. It ruined my plans after the wedding celebration. Very poor business standards. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
