For £75, I expected breakfast service as part of a B&B stay, but I had to sort it out myself. Self-catering would be a more accurate description. On my UK tour I stayed one night here, then found a proper bed and breakfast in a lovely Yorkshire village. It cost £43 a night and came with a lovely room, a wonderful cooked breakfast and a very accommodating host. It was so nice I’d use it as a base if it were within commuting distance of Scotland. Chalk and cheese.

Peacock Farm The Paddock was a peaceful place to stay, and Nicky and Steve were kind, informative hosts who knew the local area well. I stayed before and after my charity tandem skydive, and they felt like part of the event too. The B&B was clean and tidy, nicely decorated while still feeling like a family home. I also enjoyed spending time with their cats, ‘Dizzy’ and ‘Mr Sox’, and walking their dog, ‘Bailey’. I didn’t manage to fit in a massage with Mandy this time because of my schedule, but I’ll visit again and book one. The hot tub is well worth paying a little extra for, especially after a long day out.

I spent 10 weeks at Peacock Farm over the summer while taking a course. Nicky was always friendly and approachable, and went out of her way to make the stay enjoyable. The rooms feel homely and comfortable, with pretty gardens around them. Highly recommend.

It felt like a home away from home, and the hosts made us feel really welcome. A lovely place to get out of the city and enjoy a quiet country routine. If we have time, we’ll definitely visit again. Thank you to the host.
