Black Bull A1 Lodge

The building and carpets looked quite worn inside, and I found the driveway entrance and exit really concerning. It’s hard to see when pulling onto or off the very busy A1, which felt dangerous. I’m sorry, but that means I wouldn’t recommend it to friends. The staff were friendly, and breakfast was fine. He was happy to give me what I wanted as a fussy eater.

My wife, our 18-month-old child and I stayed at Black Bull A1 Lodge, and the place was disgusting. There were mouse droppings, spiders and webs in every room, and everything felt sticky, as if it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The carpets were dirty, worn and coming loose, and the electrical sockets were in poor condition, which seemed like serious health hazards. I’m taking this up with the booking company and Environmental Health.

The hosts were so welcoming, and breakfast was fantastic. The room’s a great size, though it’s starting to look a little tired. I’d definitely recommend the place and use it again 👌

The hosts were lovely and I couldn’t fault them. Breakfast was plentiful and really well cooked, and the bed was very comfortable. The rooms look a bit tired, though they were clean enough. The busy A1 is right beside the place, so don’t expect much sleep. Still, for the money it wasn’t bad, and I’d stay again if I travelled to that weekend’s destination.
