The Whisky Vaults

A typical Oban whisky bar, with a great whisky selection. Drinks were reasonably priced to a little on the expensive side, and I’d have liked more non-whisky options. There’s plenty of room for groups and gatherings, with a relaxed open space to meet and have a drink. Some music or a TV in the background would improve it.

I’d booked a room only, so the continental breakfast delivered in the morning was a nice surprise. I was also upgraded to a lovely deluxe room, clean and well equipped with tea and coffee. The hotel was quiet, and the whisky bar next door had a lovely outdoor beer garden. Friendly staff made the stay very pleasant. I’d happily stay again.

Stay away. My reservation was cancelled with just 24 hours’ notice, and they gave no clear reason. I tried calling, but the phone had been disconnected. Something has gone wrong here. Don’t book. Update: the excuses aren’t acceptable. I didn’t book through Expedia. I used a travel agent, who had to scramble to find us somewhere else after you cancelled without warning. You had my VISA number, so there was no need to cancel. Why didn’t you contact me? Very bad customer service.

After a day of travelling, we got such a friendly welcome at this clean little hotel in a perfect location. We relaxed in the magnificent whiskey bar with fish and chips from the restaurant next door. John was amazing, carrying our bags upstairs and picking an outstanding whiskey flight. Thank you!
