We spent ten weeks here between July and September last year because of work in Okehampton, and I wish I’d written this sooner. The two-bedroom apartment was comfortable, spotless and so peaceful, with a walk-in shower, a double bed, two singles, a fully equipped kitchen, sofa, dining table, TV and DVD player. The huge garden was beautifully kept. Michael built the apartment himself and was always kind, friendly and ready to help. Julie ran the house and apartment while juggling two part-time jobs and looking after her ducks and ducklings. I still remember your favourite animal, Julie, the donkey! Breakfast was lovely and fresh, including eggs laid that morning by their chickens. The locals were friendly too, and the whole place felt wonderfully relaxed. I’ve worked all over Britain for 14 years, and this is the loveliest place I’ve stayed. We live up north, about seven hours away by car, but I’m talking with my fiancée about coming back for a few summer days. This really is the place to stay.
