We were in the area and stopped at the Blue Lion for dinner, though we didn’t stay there. It has the warm, friendly feel of a typical pub. The car park was full at 6:30, but roadside parking was available. The barman was very busy and still made us feel welcome. There was a wide menu, plus a specials board, and the prices were reasonable. Our food came without a long wait, beautifully presented and in generous portions. I had wonderful trout with cassoulet; my friends enjoyed their beef and ale pie and two gammon dishes. We were too full for dessert, though the menu looked tempting. We’d definitely eat here again when we’re back, and now that we know they offer rooms, we might stay too.

Really enjoyed Friday night dinner here. The landlord, I think, greeted us and was very nice. The burger and gammon steak were superb and came in big portions. It’s a lovely country pub, busy enough that I’d recommend booking. My husband liked all the cricket and darts memorabilia.

The Blue Lion Inn gave us our best dinner last year, so we were keen to come back, and it was just as tasty this time. Lovely pub, great atmosphere, wonderful people and amazing food. I’d definitely recommend it!

We stayed for two nights and had dinner at the restaurant on the second one. The owners were really friendly and went out of their way to cater for my partner’s gluten-free dietary needs. The pub had a lovely atmosphere and the food was incredible. Such a find, we’ll definitely stay again.

We chose the Blue Lion Inn for my son’s birthday after reading the online reviews, and it lived up to them. We shared starters of halloumi fries, calamari, chicken wings and Olives, all well cooked, nicely seasoned and delicious. For mains we had two steaks, chicken supreme and a burger, all excellent with good sized portions. The staff were very attentive. We’ll definitely visit again when we’re on holiday.
