The George Inn

The room was amazing, and the housekeepers really do notice every detail. Dinner tasted great too, but the service at the bar spoiled the evening. The blonde woman working there, who I think was the manager or bar manager, was rude whenever I asked something, either making a sharp remark or ignoring me. I waited ten minutes for my drink while she was busy flirting with the men at the bar. My husband and I won't be going back to the pub. The manager should train the bar manager to treat customers with more kindness and consideration.

The Chef helped make the evening easy for me by arranging a menu without onion or garlic, which I can't tolerate after major surgery. I spoke to the Chef before our recent dinner at The George, as suggested when I booked. Everyone in our party had a fabulous meal, and the whole evening was enjoyable and stress free. Service was second to none. We'll definitely visit again.

We tried the George for dinner last night and the food was just as delicious as it had been at lunch on Thursday. I had the chicken chilli wrap then, and my husband had the steak sandwich. Both were excellent. Since moving to Okehampton over a year ago, we'd been hoping to find a local pub, and now we have. It's welcoming for locals, families, and my favourite four-legged furry friends. The staff are so friendly and helpful, especially the lovely girl behind the bar who also serves. She's always busy but still can't do enough for you.

We held a wake here after my mum's funeral while we were staying, and the staff made sure the arrangements were just how we wanted, including the photo boards. The food was excellent and everyone was wonderful. Our room was very comfortable and had everything we needed; they also supplied any extras we asked for. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We'd definitely stay at the George Inn again when visiting family, and I'd highly recommend it.
