The kitchen was stocked with plenty of cups, plates and cutlery, and the games room could be good fun for kids. But the place looked much better in the photos, and the large garden we expected wasn't there. It could do with some updating, too. There’s no shower in the pool area, so getting back through the house means climbing a flight of stairs, then going all the way upstairs to wash. Several bedroom showers screeched while running. I couldn’t get the DVD player working, and since we were told not to touch the equipment, I left it alone. A few small issues would have been understandable, but there were so many jobs needed that the list felt endless. For what my husband paid for the week, I don’t think it was worth it.

We had eight of us in the house and still never got on each other’s nerves. There was so much to keep everyone busy, including the games room away from the main house, so the children’s noise wasn’t a problem. My children spent hours in the warm pool with all the toys, especially as the weather wasn’t great. The house felt more like home than our own place, and this was easily our best UK holiday. We’d love to come back. Everything seemed to have been thought of, from hairdryers and extra towels to linen, speakers, books, toys, games and Wi-Fi. The owner was attentive when a bath tap came loose, and even brought us Prosecco as an apology, though it hadn’t caused us any trouble. The house was spotless and beautiful, and it’s well placed for beaches and villages. We didn’t get to see everything because there was so much to do. Our only tiny suggestion is a large mixing bowl among all the utensils, pots, pans and crockery. We had to search pretty hard to find anything to complain about, and we are British after all!

The location is stunning, and so is the house itself, but the customer service let things down. When I tried to report that the TV wasn’t working, I couldn’t tell whether it had been broken before we arrived or the team had simply missed checking it. There were cobwebs around the property. The house is huge, so I can understand how that happens, but at this price I expected better. The email address for reporting problems was out of date and bounced back. I ended up trying to get through by phone for over two hours just to report the issue.

The house and pool were beautiful, and everything was so clean. We had a wonderful family weekend and would love to come back soon.

The games room was fun, and the swimming pool was great. We had a brilliant time there with the family and would definitely recommend it.
