Mark was a very welcoming host, and the hotel is extremely good value for money. Oxford is easy to get to, with regular buses into the city and back. I’ll definitely stay again.

Mark made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived and nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay. It has a quaint, charming cottage feel. We had room 5, which was very good, with an exceptional bathroom. Breakfast was great, with fruit, yoghurt, cereals, juice, toast, boiled eggs, tea, coffee and even hot chocolate. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was well stocked with continental options, and they offered us boiled eggs and toast. Shops and groceries are about a 10 minute walk away. The rooms felt dated and not very private, as we could hear adjoining rooms through the walls. Our bathroom was rather large but missing much of its window blinds. There was an extra twin bed, but apart from the beds there was nowhere to sit. With seven cars and a couple of motorbikes, parking was a challenge.

It was 29 degrees outside and the room was hot, with no fan. When I tried to open the window, it seemed to be coming off its hinges and might fall out, so I pulled it back and managed to shut it properly. The single room I booked was dated and needed refurbishment. The bathroom light wouldn’t turn off, the bedside lamp flickered so I had to switch it off, and neither of the two TVs worked. There were cups, tea, coffee and milk, but no kettle. It wasn’t worth what I paid, though thankfully I only had to stay one night in that room.
