Mount Pleasant Hotel

Stay away from this hotel. We found bedbugs everywhere, and our whole bodies were itching. We had to leave the room in the middle of the night, with nobody at the hotel to contact. We called a number and were told we’d get our money back, but the refund never came. This is a dishonest, fraudulent business. Don’t stay here under any circumstances.

My room was roomy, comfortable, and laid out well, with everything I needed, including an electric kettle and cups and glasses. The shower was great! It’s a small inn at the edge of an adorable town, with adequate amenities. Keep in mind it’s an old building with rooms on the second floor and no elevator.

The room felt dated but was clean. Staff were friendly and polite, and the location is convenient, just a short bus ride from the city centre.

Update: I’ve just found bedbugs on my bedding at home. I stayed here at the end of September, and it’s the only place I’ve been. After seeing the recent reviews, I can guess where they came from 🤬🤬. I’m really not happy. I’ve never had bedbugs in my life. The location was great for the hospital, only about a five-minute walk, which helped a lot. The rooms were adequate, but the baths urgently need upgrading. My room was cold when I arrived, though the kind of helpful staff sorted it out after a quick text. It’s quite hands-off there. I was disappointed there was no breakfast, but I didn’t read properly, so that was on me. There are pubs next door on both sides, surprisingly quiet for such a busy high street, and my dad could see the famous shark. The restaurant downstairs was expensive but okay, and the staff were nice when they were around. Also, the Starbucks up the road is crap!
