Samphire

The apartment had lovely views and looked beautiful when we arrived, but the stay was very disappointing. While I was using the Venetian blinds built into the bifold doors, the external metal pulley fell onto my Rayban glasses and scratched the middle of the right lens. My optician quoted £197.50 for a replacement. There was no warning this might happen. I suppose wearing glasses saved my eye from being injured. At the mid-stay linen change, I stripped the double bed and found the mattress upside down. I’d felt its zip during the night and thought it was odd, so I turned it the right way up. Underneath was a horrible brown circular stain, about two feet across, in the middle. It looked as though the mattress had been flipped to hide it from guests. The cleaners washed the cover, but I felt traumatised thinking I’d slept on such a filthy mattress for a week and that someone had tried to conceal it. I didn’t take a photo, but the cleaner did and sent the pictures to Harbour Holidays. I asked Harbour Holidays several times for copies and they ignored me. I contacted Harbour Holidays expecting some compensation. They offered £200, enough to cover the replacement lens, but nothing for the disgust of sleeping on that mattress for a week. After I raised that, they stopped responding. I never received any compensation, not even the £200 they had offered. I’d thought this was a reputable company that would keep its luxury apartments pristine, so this was very disappointing. Stay: July 2022. Trip type: Holiday.
