The food was the standout for me. We had the perfectly roasted lamb, vegetarian lasagne, fish and chips, a great burger and beer battered brie, followed by pudding. Every plate was generous, and all the food was excellent. We stayed at the Roast Ox Inn for one night during our Freerein horse riding trip. The welcome was warm and friendly, and the service made us feel at home. A real gem for hospitality and pub food. I’d happily return.

Tony, his wife and the team made our Golden Wedding Anniversary evening one we’ll remember for a long time. They had serviettes on the table to mark the occasion, and gave us a very warm welcome. Tony had promised to look after us, and they certainly did. The service was exemplary, the food was excellent, and the portions were just right. We all agreed we’d be back as soon as possible. I can’t recommend them highly enough, and would point anyone asking where to go their way. We all felt they were the best around.

We liked it enough to eat at the Roast Ox Inn two days running. The staff were friendly, attentive and genuinely helpful, and both meals were excellent. On our first visit I had the chicken and chorizo pie, while my partner chose the Welsh lamb. Both were full of flavour and beautifully cooked. For Sunday lunch we returned for pork and beef roasts, with generous portions and all the usual flavours done right. It’s only open a few days each week, so plan around that. Sunday lunch was busy when we went, so booking ahead is a good idea. The pub is dog friendly, with a lovely fireplace and authentic country decor. We’d happily come back.

A local suggested this pub for dinner, and I’m so glad I took their advice. The welcome was friendly without anyone hovering. The roast lamb was stunning, really tender and full of flavour. I also tried the recommended wine, and it may be the best house wine I’ve had. I took my delicious dessert outside to enjoy the warm evening.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the whole place felt cosy. We had a lovely couple of nights, with really good breakfast each morning. Tony makes the best scrambled eggs! The food was incredible, and the staff were so friendly and approachable. Michael, the resident Cat, made us feel welcome too. Thanks for having us!
