The Greenwich Rooms - Burger & Bird Bar & Restaurant

A quiet spot with generously sized rooms. They’re basic, but clean and tidy. There’s free parking nearby, and buses go straight to Brighton.

For dinner, the restaurant was a highlight. The food was lovely, especially the tastiest hamburger I’ve had in ages, with light, crispy chips that still had their skins on. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and the stay was good value for money. The room was comfortable and clean with a sea view, and the location made it easy to explore the wider Sussex area away from the crowds at the more popular resorts. Sainsbury’s is right across the road, with a cash point clearly in view. Bus stops are close by if you don’t have a car, with reasonably priced fares to Brighton, Eastbourne and places along the coastal road. There’s also a launderette nearby offering service washes for longer stays. It’s only a four-minute walk to the Meridian Monument and the coastline.

I’d definitely stay here again. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a modern toilet, and the double bed came at a decent price. Parking is free, though the car park is small and spaces are first come, first served. It was hard to spot the car park entrance on my first visit. Checkout was easy, too, with a small pigeonhole for dropping off the room keys if you missed them for checkout.

We booked a table for eight at Burger & Bird, though we didn’t use the rooms. It was very busy and they were short staffed, but the team were polite and professional, handled things well, and we didn’t wait too long for the food. There was a good range of reasonably priced dishes. I had the medium-rare Sirloin Steak with Chips, trimmings and peppercorn sauce. It came out hot and tasty, though the sauce wasn’t quite up to scratch. My biscoffee cheesecake with vanilla ice cream was very tasty. The rest of our group had various burgers and sides, and everyone enjoyed their meals. Desserts were a mix of ice creams and pies, and we were all happy.
