Breakfast had plenty of good choices, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The room was clean and comfortable, though a little cramped, with just a wall rail for hanging clothes instead of a wardrobe. Parking was great. There’s a lovely beach and pub about a kilometre away, down some steep steps.

The freshly caught lobster, mussels and locally caught smoked mackerel pâté were delicious, and the homemade food felt fresher and better than what we had at the pub/restaurant down the road on our second night. We came for a family gathering and had such a lovely stay in this cosy, welcoming hotel. The newly decorated rooms were lovely, and the place felt peaceful but still friendly and sociable. We plan to come back. Thank you. X

The little lounge looked lovely, and the staff were friendly. Our room was comfortable, but the hotel felt short on character. It didn't really seem like a country house, with its pebbledash exterior, modern windows and bungalows around it, and I wouldn't call it boutique either. The bathroom reminded me of one in a care home. We could smell the kitchen fryer in both the dining area and our room.

The village parking is a problem, with too few spaces at the bottom. Since the hotel is a long way up the hill, getting back is hard work, and making that trip twice in one day would take a lot of fitness and youth. It makes going to the restaurants or bars below difficult. The rooms themselves are smart, modern, clean and light, and the staff were helpful and friendly. One small gripe, the English breakfast was too salty. Still, a nice place to stay.

The room was very dark, with only a small window, and the bed and room were much too small for two. The shower curtain was only a few centimetres from the toilet, with no separate shower cubicle. Glad we only stayed one night. I wouldn't book here again.
