It’s a wonderful old hotel, though it’s at least a 25 mins walk from town and there’s no dinner served, so plan for that. We went next door to the Anchor Barrow campsite instead and had a fantastic meal in their outdoor garden. I’d recommend that!

The place was clean and welcoming, but it left me underwhelmed for what it cost. There were lots of small letdowns: the bar had no stock, the rooms had paper cups, each of us got only one pillow, and the ensuite was tiny. My water shed is pemier inn. This hotel was much more expensive and still didn’t get the basics right.

The owners were great to chat with and gave us useful directions for finding the path in the morning. We had a spacious room, a nice shower and a great breakfast. There’s also a lounge with a small but good range of beers and wines for the evening. We stayed here while walking the SWCP and found it fantastic all round. It’s a bit out of town and uphill, so southbound walkers might want to eat and visit the shop before heading up. You could also consider a taxi if you walk back down for dinner. The climb to the hotel means an easy start south the next morning.

Spotlessly clean, really comfortable, with welcoming owners and a delicious breakfast. It was a great stop on our SW Coast Path walk. If you’re on foot, ask about the shortcut from town to avoid the main road. We only stayed one night, but it would be a lovely place for a longer visit.

For our coastal hike we stayed one night. The owner was kind, and the room was clean and new. It’s conveniently close to the SW Coastal Path if you don’t mind having no shops or restaurants nearby. Of all the places we booked, this Hotel cost the most, and I thought it was a little overpriced.
