Chequers Inn

Millie and her team made my Dad’s wake on 27th October a success, despite it being a sad day. We had the restaurant and conservatory to ourselves, which gave us a nice bit of privacy. The buffet was amazing, with a fantastic mix of savoury and sweet food, and we even had some left over to take home. Thanks to everyone. Bryony + Mike Peers

We were there for a wake, and Dona, the branch manager, I think, and the chef were great while serving us. Dona was friendly, helpful and sociable, the sort of person who treats everyone like a friend. The buffet and breakfast options were much better than expected. I didn’t get to try the dinner menu because it was Sunday. The layout suits the setting, with the old and modern styles blending well. The flooring might catch some people by surprise, apparently for reasons tied to the original design. The room was a good size and style, with a personal shower and TV. I’m into pizza, and while it wasn’t on that day, I like the idea of offering it in a village whose nearest pizzeria is far away. This pub and inn exceeded my expectations in several ways. It’s the central place in Fladbury for food, drinks, events and overnight stays. A 7-star rating out of 5 from me.

We had a lovely evening meal in this country pub. The staff were friendly, service was quick, and it was warm inside on a freezing day. We were too full after the mains to try dessert.

We stayed for two nights with breakfast. The location was stunning, and the pub and accommodation were lovely. Our room was tidy enough and the staff were pleasant, but food and drinks were hard to come by, which was a shame. We arrived at 2pm after an early start and long journey, hoping for lunch. Because there was a wake, they couldn’t make us anything except chips, so we didn’t get the lunch we wanted. At dinner, several menu items were unavailable. We ordered, then were told my choice was off too, so the menu was very limited. Breakfast the next morning was lovely, though it took a while for staff to notice we were waiting. After attending the funeral we’d travelled for and spending a few hours catching up with relatives, we got changed and went down to the bar at 9pm, only to find it closed.
