Black Horse

The staff were all helpful, polite and courteous, and the food was so good we went back for another try. Without a Wedding between visits, we might have gone three times in a row. The burger was easily one of the best I've tasted. Definitely worth trying for a meal. If I'm in the area again, I'll book a table.

The village of Baston was a welcome bonus. This is a good traditional inn, with a lovely pub restaurant, accommodating staff, an excellent breakfast, and a large, comfortable room.

We had the Festive three-course meal for our anniversary. It was good value, nicely presented and tasted lovely. The staff and service were good too. The dining area was bright, clean and smart, with lovely tables and chairs, but it felt bare and lacked warmth. The background music kept cutting out, which would have added to the meal if it had played consistently. Having the toilet entrance in the middle of the restaurant was disappointing; access from the bar would be a better option. Based on that evening, we don't feel like coming back for another meal.

The evening for my wife's 70th birthday at the Black Horse went smoothly, and the food and service were excellent. We were treated with great respect, and nothing was too much trouble. The exemplary service started well before the celebration, with the original booking and pre-ordering. I'd wholeheartedly recommend the Black Horse for celebrations.
