The homemade roast dinner and pudding were fantastic, and the price was amazing at £21 each. We were staying at the Nene Way caravan site and walked down to The Queens Head Inn for Sunday lunch. Since we’d be in the village for the weekend and there wasn’t much information on the website, I took a chance. What a lovely surprise. We’ll definitely be back. Don’t let the website put you off, it doesn’t do the place justice.

The five courses were delicious, with generous portions, and the evening had a great feel to it. We went for Italian night and everything was spot on, from the wine-bottle candles and beautifully dressed tables to the food. It started with antipasti, and the authentic baking stood out, especially the focaccia, along with the homemade soup. The porchetta pork belly was incredible, and the tiramisu was a perfect finish. Italian music played in the background, the Aperol spritz was a lovely touch, and limoncello rounded off the evening perfectly. We really enjoyed it, thanks, Paul!

Paul deserves a big shout-out for the outstanding food. Everything was full of flavour and beautifully cooked, just what Christmas dinner should be. Christmas Day at The Queen’s Head was amazing, with a lovely atmosphere and great service. It was stress-free, with good food and good company. Thanks for making our day so special.

Sunday lunch here is always fabulous. It’s a friendly village pub with a lovely family feel, and it’s dog friendly too. Always fun, fun, fun! Full of idiots like me!

The £10 each we were charged included a coffee, and that did arrive. After getting home, I noticed a £7 charge for my friend’s Coke. I assume we were accidentally charged for two, but who knows? We stopped for lunch and had a terrible meal. The patio turned out to be in the car park, not by the river as we’d hoped, and food was only served as far as the patio. We went inside to wait, and waited and waited. Our order was two poached eggs on toast and smashed avocado with poached eggs on toast. It took about 45 minutes. The poached eggs came on two pieces of ordinary sliced brown sandwich bread, one an end crust, with the other cut into triangles and propped against it. All the toast was completely dry. The avocado plate was marginally better, but the eggs were somewhat cold and its sourdough toast was another cheap sliced option. We complained and were told there was training in the kitchens. I asked for a refund, which they offered, and wish I’d taken it. Since the avocado toast wasn’t so bad, I accepted a £10 refund instead. I’d recommend avoiding this place.
