Albert Hotel

The people were so friendly throughout, and the chef even accommodated my gluten-free needs so I could have Peterhead fish and chips. We also had a comfortable, enjoyable visit to family in the little bar/pub. There’s a brewery nearby with gluten-free beer and lovely people to meet, and the hotel is an easy walk from the bus station, which helped a lot. The place is an older property, but it was clean and well cared for. It had the quaint, charming feel I expected from a small hotel in a small town in Scotland. I loved the china displayed all around, the boxed breakfast in the fridge, and the coal-burning fireplace in the dining room and bar. Would absolutely recommend it!

The bar and restaurant were fantastic, even though I didn't stay at the hotel. The owner and staff did everything they could for us. The food was tasty and the portions were generous. We'll definitely go back.

We had a really good meal with friends after lockdown and a lovely chance to catch up. The staff were polite and helpful without hovering. The lamb shanks, beef steak pie, chicken in creamy sauce, chicken Maryland, and fish and chips were all superb, tasty, and decent-sized portions. Nobody left anything on their plate, and the puddings were good too. I'd definitely recommend it and will be back 😁

It's a friendly, homely place where you feel comfortable, with staff who can't do enough to help. The coffee and fancies were very nice, and the meals are great. It may not be a big, posh hotel, but it has a peaceful feel that comes with age and long experience, along with calm, efficient service. I only gave four stars because access and the loo were difficult for me. There are steps at the entrance, though they have a portable ramp, so let them know ahead if you need disabled access. I couldn't find an accessible toilet, though that doesn't mean there isn't one. I used the ordinary gents, and my bad hip suddenly gave way when I was trying to stand. There were no grab bars, and I thought I'd have to call for help, but I managed after a big struggle. Even so, I'd generally recommend it for coffee, a meal, or a quiet drink.
