Rawcliffe House Farm

Jan and Duncan are a friendly couple and perfect hosts. The studio was spotless, with comfortable beds and a very handy kitchenette. We loved sitting out in the courtyard. It’s a lovely, peaceful spot, only ten minutes from Pickering.

We had a fantastic time visiting the North Yorkshire Moors during our off-season stay in 2015. The accommodation was warm, clean and very quiet, and the hosts were friendly. The complimentary jar of jam was delicious, and working Wi-Fi was a welcome bonus. I’d definitely recommend it.

Duncan gave us a warm welcome, and Jan’s muffins were a real treat. The studio rooms were tidy and clean, and Rawcliffe House is in a lovely central spot for visiting places around the area, with fantastic views. We enjoyed our stay, including a few funny moments with the ducks. The beds were very hard and creaky, and unfortunately my back and hips suffered. A mattress topper might help guests who prefer a softer bed. The doors creak too, so it’s easy to wake others when using the toilet at night. Wi-Fi didn’t work in the room, and mobile signal was only available if I held my phone by the window.

Jan and Duncan made sure we had everything we needed, including helpful details about walks, local activities, and the nearby coast. The cottage was comfortable, with a high-standard bedroom and bathroom, easy heating that kept us cosy in early November, and a well-equipped kitchen for making meals. There are also takeaways and restaurants in Pickering and nearby. My wife and I loved the beautiful area and the warm welcome at Rawcliffe House Farm. We’d happily return as soon as we can.
