Bridge of Gaur Guest House

We had a wonderful two-night stay at the Bridge of Gaur guesthouse. Heather, Ed and Thomas were very friendly hosts. It was lovely and warm after coming back cold and wet from orienteering in Rannoch Forest. The dinners both nights were delicious, and breakfast was very tasty too. Highly recommend.

The views over the countryside were a treat, and Heather pointed us toward some lovely walks right from the door. My husband even spotted a herd of Highland cows. The guesthouse is ideally placed near Loch Rannoch, and the rooms are huge, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. We had dinner there, then relaxed with drinks in the cozy sitting room. Breakfast was included and had all the hearty Scottish options you could want. Heather and Ed made us feel so welcome and had plenty of great recommendations. We came with friends whose Isle of Skye plans had been cancelled by bad weather, and they were glad they ended up here. This stay has been the highlight of our three weeks in Scotland so far. We loved every minute.

The area is wonderful, and we loved our stay enough to come back in a heartbeat. Just keep in mind that, as the website says, the guesthouse is pretty remote, right at the end of the road, with no nearby pubs or evening places open. You need to order food ahead, though it was lovely, and they’re licensed to sell alcohol. Heather, Eddie and Thomas were lovely and very helpful hosts, and the place is well set up for cyclists. If you have an e-bike, they ask you not to leave its battery charging overnight unattended.

After a long day on the bike, this was just the right place to stop for the night. Heather and Ed were great, and their local knowledge helped me plan the next day's route. The service was excellent and the food delicious. Completely lovely!
