We liked the hotel's cosy feel and its helpful staff. They were busy when we arrived but got us sorted efficiently, and we could choose a breakfast time within the available window. Our superior double was clean and well kept, although the decor was dated and the carpet looked worn. Breakfast had plenty of choices, could be adjusted to suit, and came promptly. We had other plans, so didn't eat in the bar. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, with every movement rocking us like a ship at sea, and the showers could do with more pressure. Sadly, because of the bed, I wouldn't book here again. The rooms and beds need updating.

I haven't stayed at the hotel, but the pub is lovely. Warm, comfortable and welcoming, with really nice staff and a proper wood fire that makes the place feel even cosier. The food is hearty, portions are generous, and there's a great choice, including vegetarian and vegan options.

We brought our cockapoo along, and we all had a great weejend. Dogs are welcome for a small charge, and we'll definitely be back. The rooms were clean but a little dated; given that the place is hundreds of years old, I can forgive that. Apparently there are plans to renovate them later this year. Moulin is a quieter spot, just a stroll from the heart of Pitlochry. The pub has a roaring fire, a great whisky selection and its own beers from the micro brewery, which they're happy to show you around.

The food has always been reliable, but it hasn't improved over the years. The menu is broader now, though the quality seems to be slipping. After around 20 years of going to Moulin for dinner in the pub, we feel it's gradually going downhill. It has so much potential, but the management seem to have lost sight of what creates a good atmosphere. The lighting is awful, with strip or spot lights and some icy white bulbs making the place feel floodlit. The interior hasn't changed in years, which is fine and part of its character, but it feels all wrong under that harsh light. Warm bulbs or lower lamps would make a cosy atmosphere without much effort. It's a real shame, because the location and history make it worth a visit, and it's such a gem. We don't go back often or bring visiting friends because it falls behind many other places in the village. I'd be happy to write a much more positive review if things improve. This is not a review of the rooms, as I've never stayed in them.

The room was comfortable and clean, and this was one of our better stays in a pub. On the night we stayed, 17 May, the gentleman running the restaurant was outstanding. It was extremely busy, yet he kept everyone updated and handled everything calmly and professionally. Our meals were excellent when they arrived. Highly recommended, 5 stars.
