Squires Guest House

David and Paula’s guest house came highly recommended to us, and we’d gladly recommend it to anyone too. We stayed for five nights and couldn’t fault a thing. Everything was spotlessly clean and the breakfasts were wonderful. We’ll definitely return. (Sept. 2019).

We were in Plymouth to look around the university and are so glad we found Squires Guest House. Paula and Dave are brilliant hosts, welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast was a delicious cooked meal, with cereals to choose from, and they kept us supplied with tea and toast. You can tell they have plenty of experience running a guest house. The location is perfect for getting to all the different parts of Plymouth we wanted to see. Our one regret is not staying an extra night, which might have let us catch Dave singing in a club just over the Torpoint Ferry. No doubt we’ll be back.

We were in Plymouth to shop, and Squires was an easy choice since it’s about five minutes from the city centre. I used to work there as a housekeeper years ago, before the current owners took over, so it was nice to return with my fiancé. Paula and Dave made us feel welcome, and our room was clean and comfortable. The bed was softer than we like, but the shower and the rest of the facilities were good. We had tea, coffee, hot chocolate, a trouser press, hairdryer, towels, flannels, shower gel, shampoo, a TV, an alarm clock and free WiFi. Fresh milk and extra tea were available if we asked. Breakfast is still to come, with cereal, yogurt, fruit, juice, tea, coffee, toast and preserves, plus a traditional English breakfast and lighter options. Lovely people and a lovely stay. We’ll be back.

The owners, Dave and Paula, were so kind and looked after me really well on the night before my wedding. I was nervous, and they helped settle me down before sending me off after a lovely Full English breakfast. The room was lovely, with an en-suite and a comfortable bed. I even managed to get some sleep! Thoroughly recommended.
