The canal was a lovely place to walk our dog, and we even had a chance of spotting a kingfisher. The B&B is just beyond the city centre, which suited those walks well. We stayed for two nights, found the room good value, and really enjoyed the breakfast. They catered perfectly for our vegetarian and vegan needs. We’d happily return.

There’s plenty of off-road parking, and the place was clean. It cost around 50 quid and isn’t too far from the town centre. But that bed was the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever slept on, and my back ached afterwards. The mirror above the sink is so low I had to crouch to shave, which wasn’t fun after a bad night. Breakfast is continental only at the moment, with no cooked option.

Everything felt peaceful, and the breakfast was delicious with plenty to eat. The owners welcomed me as soon as I got out of the car. My room was spacious and spotless, with an immaculate brand-new bathroom and a very comfortable bed. A fantastic B&B, I can’t fault it.

The hosts were kind enough to let me have a pizza delivered, which helped since the B&B is too far to walk to restaurants or bars. I stayed one night on thurs 10 may 2018 while cycling the Way of the Roses route. My partner keith frobisher found the room large, comfortable and clean, and there was safe, secure bike parking. He slept well and enjoyed breakfast before setting off. He felt very welcome. A great stay, and I’d recommend it to cyclists doing the sea to sea route.

Pocklington is worth a wander, and the old canal nearby is being renovated. Its towpath makes for good walks, with interesting plants and wildlife to spot and a chance to get away from the crowds. The place was quiet and friendly, with a hearty breakfast. York and Beverley aren’t far away.
